A concrete silky example

J.Crew Factory itemCX082 is called a silky square scarf but its detail section says polyester. We do not rewrite that as silk or invent a percentage where the page lists only the fiber name.

Keep100% claims specific

Smithsonian item 22735 states100% silk; Quince describes the checked wrap as 100% cashmere. These are seller/manufacturer statements for those products, not our laboratory fiber analysis or a blanket claim about related items.

Use the received label

FTC’s textile reference explains why fiber-content information matters. Compare the current item label with the listing and ask the seller about a discrepancy. We do not identify fiber by touch, appearance or a home burn test.

Before you decide

  • Read explicit composition
  • Do not equate silky with silk
  • Keep exact product and label together
